The male selkie at full moon

There have been enough sightings of the female selkie to prove their existence, With the male selkie, it is a different matter. At full moon they take on the form of a powerful young male, they stride through the villages in a cocksure manner. Women of all ages feel magnetised by their presence, lose all inhibitions and follow them back to the sea.

It could be taken as evidence of the existence of male selkies, the disappearance of so many women along the coastlines of Scotland, Ireland and the various Isles. Selkie therianthropy is a relatively young scientific discipline.

The bigger question is probably what is the motivation? Is it revenge for the kidnapping of female selkies, the hiding of their skins, forcing them to live as humans. Is it just because they can do it, they do it or are other more powerful forces at work.

We know selkies like the cat-sith have no real interest in us, they exist on the threshold between what we know and what we do not know. It is the fear of what we do not know which in particular has led to the cruelty and persecution of the Cat-Sith by elements in our society.

I think we cannot escape our past. The kingdom of Alba plays an instrumental part as this bridges the era of the picts and the arrival of the house of Stuarts, a family which over the next five hundred years destroyed our true identity through pure egoismus. There were those that tried to halt the course of time, especially the Wolf of Badenoch, but what can so few do against so many.

The personification of the De'il and the convenience to justify the abuse and cruelty inflicted upon those not prepared to submit themsleves to narrow-minded, patriarchal sects which called themselves religions and acted as they claim out of the motive of love is a sad era in our history. The celtic church may have been a compassionate and spiritual religion, Masculine Rome did not like this and what may have been something beautiful and unique was destroyed.
